F. Henry Jaeger, 75, of Edmeston, died December 20, 2010 after a brief illness. Henry was born on March 24, 1935 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Adolph and Anna Mae Jaeger, who predeceased him. He graduated from Edmeston Central School. Henry led a very active and busy life. He was a great lover of the outdoors and dairy farming. He spent his life on his dairy farm, where he started working at the age of 9. You could say that milking cows was his life, but his greatest enjoyment was working the land on Nelly, his TW-5 4-wheel drive Ford tractor.
Henry was a member of the Farmers Lodge #553 F & A.M. for 48 years and received the Dedicated Service Award for his service to the Masonic Fraternity. He was also a member of the Burlington Flats Fish & Game Club, Inc. He was one of the “old board” members and helped build the current clubhouse and was treasurer for 20 years. He was a member of the Royal Arch Masons #26, Otsego Chapter. While being a member of R.A.M., Henry was also D.D.G.H.P. of the 11th Capitular District (1994-1996). Henry was also a member of The Knights Templar. Henry was a real property assessor in the town of Edmeston and a member and director/committeeman of the Eastern AI for many years. He was also a member and committeeman for Agway in both the feed and petroleum divisions.
Henry is survived by his loving wife, Anita, of 53 years. Also surviving are his sons Larry, Mike and Rick (David) Jaeger and his daughter Sue and David Holbert; grandchildren Andrea and Brian Blackwell, Jason
Holbert and David E. Jaeger Jr.; great granddaughter Grace Suzanne Blackwell; sister Katherine and Larry Schrader; several brothers and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews; and several “adopted” family members including Dalynn Ward, Deb Ackerman, Tim Tophoven and Earl Wilkinson.
Family will be in attendance at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home in Edmeston from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Monday, December 27, 2010. Masonic service will be held at 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Henry’s memory to the Farmers Lodge #533, The Burlington Flats Fish & Game Club or to the Edmeston Emergency Squad.
